IPSWICH CENTRAL CIVIC PROJECT
Built by Hutchinson Builders and designed by the Buchan Group, Heard Group Expansion Joint Systems are proud to have contributed to the $128M Ipswich Civic Central Project by supplying and installing our Medium Duty Continuous Angle Leg Floor Joint and Expansion Joint Water Seal.
The green five star energy project is made up of a 9 storey building that will house the Ipswich City Council Chambers. It’s design is unique with a rectangular shaped floor plan and terrace balconies on the eight floor. A number of green lawn spaces, water features and water play areas connect a new library and piazza area for the community. Specialised lighting and a light art façade animate the space allowing it to be used not only during the day but into the night.
Heard Group supplied 140m of Medium Duty Continuous Angle Leg Floor Expansion Joint with P5 grip rated stainless steel cover plates and Expansion Joint Water Seal throughout the outdoor paved common areas.
The Heard Group Medium Duty Continuous Angle Leg Floor Expansion Joint is an ideal expansion joint solution for installation into floors where there is a requirement to lift up an expansion joint in order to allow a topping slab to be installed over a structural concrete slab. This expansion joint is ideal for applications where the expansion joint can be fitted to a set recognised level (RL). The new topping slab and required floor finish can then be installed after the expansion joint has been installed. This expansion joint is suitable for installation indoors or outdoors and can withstand loading from pedestrian and light service equipment. Making it suitable for installation in outdoor paved areas such as that at the Ipswich Central Civic Project.
140m of Heard Group Expansion Joint Water Seal was installed beneath the Medium Duty Floor Continuous Angle Leg Floor Joint. The seal is made of preformed cross-linked closed cell foam, specifically formulated to prevent water and debris from penetrating an expansion joint gap. Making the expansion joint gap completely waterproof.
