Springwood Shopping Centre Redevelopment

SPRINGWOOD SHOPPING CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT

A $16M redevelopment of Springwood Shopping Centre designed by CCN Architects is breathing new life into this shopping centre for the people of Springwood.

Stage 2 of the build includes a new 5000m2 suspended car park of which CPSX Carpark Expansion Joint was chosen to ensure the expansion joints were watertight and pedestrian friendly.

Heard Group Expansion Joint Installations were engaged by Kane Constructions to install CPSX Carpark Expansion Joint and the first stage of installation has now been completed.

Australia’s largest asset owners such as Westfield, QIC and AMP Capital have chosen CPSX Carpark Expansion Joint to replace carpark expansion joint systems in centres such as Westfield Chermside, Westfield Carindale, Westfield Garden City, Westfield Northlakes, Robina Town Centre and Pacific Fair.

CPSX Carpark Expansion Joint is:

  • Sustainable
  • Remade in Australia using recycled content
  • Watertight
  • Installed flush with the car park deck
  • Pedestrian and trolley friendly
  • Is silent when traversed by traffic
  • NATA tested for point loading ability (able to withstand heeled shoe traffic)
  • Has no metal cover plates to come loose causing potential damage to vehicles, injury to pedestrians or potential noise hazards
  • Has no metal fixings to rust or come loose or damage the concrete slab
  • Is minimalist in appearance

CPSX Carpark Expansion Joint is made up of two layers. The bottom layer, a specialty flexible closed cell foam water seal that is adhered to the expansion joint gap with an Australian made epoxy adhesive designed to keep water and debris from exiting the expansion joint gap. The upper layer consists of rubber strands made from recycled truck tyres in Australia, bound together with an elastomeric binder that allows the rubber to expand and contract providing multi-directional movement.
